Julia Simone was born in Paris, France. She started playing piano at six years old, however, quickly discovered she had another talent. She started singing at church when she was eleven years old and later decided to become a professional singer. By the age of sixteen, she had become a freelance background singer working on studio projects and television shows for famous French artists, such as MC Solaar, Sheila, Organiz and many more. The following year, she auditioned for the American School of Modern Music in Paris where she was accepted as a piano principal.
At the age of twenty, she was accepted at Berklee College of Music and moved to Boston. While at Berklee, she received the Berklee Achievement Based Scholarship for outstanding scholastic achievement. She collaborated with producer Hip Son as a lead singer and background vocalist on both his albums. Julia Simone also performed at many major Berklee shows, and sang background vocals for celebrities' clinics and residencies. After three amazing years at Berklee, she received a Bachelor's Degree in Music, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 2004.
Julia Simone then moved to Los Angeles where she performed jazz and blues in many clubs, coached actors and singers vocally, and performed voice overs for jingles and commercials. She then moved back to Paris for two years in 2005, where she taught voice, piano and was the choir director for the contemporary department at the "Jacques Juteau" conservatory. During this time, she also coached many professional singers at the high profile contemporary music school "l'Ecole de la Voix" created by Richard Cross. She coached Christolphe Willem, who went on to win "La Nouvelle Star" (French Idol), performed many voice overs, and worked with numerous artists as a background vocalist.
In 2007, Julia Simone moved back to Los Angeles to pursue an opportunity at Interscope Records. She played the important role of vocal coach to the Interscope signed band The Paradiso Girls, collaborating with Robin Antin and Gerardo Mejia (Rico Suave).
